Q: My site was denied because I do not have an RSS feed. What is an RSS feed and how do I go about getting one?
A: The technology of RSS allows Internet users to subscribe to websites that have provided RSS feeds. It also allows you to syndicate your website content to the ShesConnected Network. RSS feeds are created in XML and refer to a family of XML dialects for Web syndication used by news websites and weblogs. The abbreviation is used to refer to the following standards:

1. Rich Site Summary (RSS 0.91)
2. RDF Site Summary (RSS 0.9 and 1.0)
3. Really Simple Syndication (RSS 2.0)

RSS formats provide web content or summaries of web content together with links to the full versions of the content, and other meta-data. This information is delivered to ShesConnected from your blog or site as an XML file called an RSS feed, webfeed, RSS stream, or RSS channel.

How to Create an RSS Feed
Feeds can be created using tags that are enclosed in brackets <> very similar to HTML.
If you are not as confident and would like software to create the feed we recommend FeedForAll an extremely easy to use feed creation tool that allows webmasters to create, edit and publish RSS feeds. If you want to create an RSS feed using a text editor a step by step walk-through at Make RSS Feeds will help.

Online Feed Creation Tools
If you just wish to create a single feed and do not need to edit or update the feed you can use an online feed creation tool such as Online RSSFeeds or Create RSS.
